Robert's Story

I was born in Los Angeles, California (Van Nuys), June 7th, 1953, at Van Nuys Maternity Hospital. We lived in Encino, until June of 1960. My family and I moved to Mena (Board Camp), Arkansas, in 1960. I was at the ripe old age of 7; that was a big change for me. My Father wanted to move my brother and I away from the influence of the drugs that was in the schools at that time. My father was a Television Technician and in 1960 there just was not a lot of TV's in Board Camp, Arkansas, area that needed repair. My father, God rest his soul, not being a farmer or rancher, did not know the first diddle squat about being one. We went broke and moved to FT. Worth, Texas; thank God we moved back to civilization. My father passed away in 1975, which was very hard on me. My mother is still living in Ft.Worth. I graduated from Haltom High School in 1972. I have been back to Los Angeles, to visit, but not to live. I like Texas. After graduation I went to work in the automotive repair industry. I was an automotive technician (mechanic) for some 30 years.
